First Junior Mathematician Course

AIMER (Association of International Mathematics Education and Research) conducted its first Junior Mathematician Course – a five day program between 1st – 5th May, 2015 in the premise of Sri Prakash Synergy School – Peddapuram. AIMER is the brain child of Prof. S.R. Santhanam, who has been associated with Sri Prakash Synergy School for quite a long time and extending his tireless and tremendous services in the department of Mathematics. Explaining the need of one more association for mathematics, Prof. Santhanam hit the nail on the head by saying, ‘more associations, and more knowledge expansion’. He also said that in order to enable the maximum number of students learn mathematics in an excellent and effective way, there is a need of such associations to come into being. He further announced the members of the association in the inaugural ceremony and Mr. A.K. Roy, the Secretary of the Association took the lead to look after the proceedings. Rising to the occasion, Mr. Vijay Prakash, the director of the School, congratulated the members, the resource persons, and the students as well. Mrs. B. Rajeswari, the Dean extended her hearty greetings to the members and the participants. The course focused on Non routine problem solving techniques on Algebra, Number Theory, Geometry, Arithmetic, Combinatory, and Coordinate Geometry which caters to Olympiad examinations. 60 Students from different parts of India came forward enthusiastically and some of them attended along with their parents. Eight resource persons from all the corners of the country shared their knowledge in all the above mentioned areas in lucid and succinct style. On the fifth day there was a valedictory function organized in the Conference Hall of Synergy School. All the participants came forward to express their views and opinions on the way the program was conducted and they were really ‘out of the world’. Some of the parents were really ‘on cloud nine’ as their children were highly benefited by the Junior Mathematician Course. The resource persons were of the opinion that this should be conducted repeatedly at regular intervals. As a response to this plea, Prof. Snathanam promised that AIMER comes forward to conduct such programs in future in any institution with an invitation.
